This past weekend my bestie Heather threw her Mom a rockin’ sock hop for her 60th birthday. I was on cake duty and it was my honor. Hummmm sock hop dessert…what to do…what to do? After a little Pinterest surfing, how about a checker board cake and fountain soda cupcakes? check and check!

Found this checker board cake pan at Michael’s and I was a little nervous about it but it worked like a charm!
The results were pretty awesome! My check board was not as straight as the picture on the box but I think with time I might be in high demand for checker boards!
