A BIG GIRL BED, that’s what!!

Well, that’s what we got ours anyway!!  Monster’s feet were beginning to touch the bottom and I there was barely any room for me to snuggle In for story time.  Okay, it wasn’t the getting in that was getting difficult, it was the getting out!!  Monster was definitely in need of a little bedroom upgrade.  And that’s exactly what she got!!

4 years ago when we were in the market for a crib, SuperDAD and I decided to go with one of those convertible cribs.  You know the ones. They are like the Transformers of  bedroom furniture.   They start out as a crib, turn into toddler bed and when you’re ready… bing-bang-boom… a full sized bed.  So we already had what we needed… except for the mattress.  And the boxspring.  And the pillows.  And the sheets.  And the comforter….  well, you get the idea!

(shout out to the best grandparents ever!  They pitched in on the big girl gift.  The mattress, boxspring and extra sheet sets!!  Yeah, they rock!!)

We planned it all out.  Monster would head to Grandma’s, spend the night and return home on the morning of her birthday.  She’d be presented with her brand new big girl room (which yes, she still shares with her baby sister but refers to as “her room”) and break in that beautiful new bed on her first sleep as a four-year-old.

It went just as we had planned… sorta!  Other than the unexpected run-around-town for the perfect 4-year-old-big-girl-room bed set.  We went to WalMart, they only had twin sheet sets.  Went to another WalMart… NOPE, just Lego sheets.  That wasn’t gonna cut it.  Target… nada.  THE MALL.  YES!  JC Pennys would HAVE to have something.   Well, you woulda thought so, huh.!?  Then Sears swooped in to the rescue.  FINALLY!!!!  A princess perfect FULL bed set…. Well, except it wasn’t Princesses.  It would have to do.  And it did!  My girl LOVED her “rainbow” bed!!  “All her favorite colors!”

So, yeah, other than our 4 hour tour of the local bedroom departments (and staying up till 2AM Big-Girling everything)  things went just as we had planned!!!

Before we get to the unveiling, here are some photos of the Before and After Monster’s bedroom makeover.

**Please pay no attention to the mess in the ‘Before’ pictures.  Keep in mind it IS a little girl’s room and it must have been an off-day because it is always spotless.  I SWEAR 😉 ! **

She squealed something along the lines of…. “THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!!”  and I couldn’t agree more!

She even had to revisit it before we went out for her other birthday surprises…
