Hey there! Ya hungry??
I’m not, but this post makes me wanna eat! THANKS ALOT chicken and mushrooms! Why must you be so delicious??
I love chicken. I could eat it everyday! And don’t get me started on mushrooms…. MMmmm mushrooms. I’ll save you all sappy stuff and just admit, I’m in love with them too!
So, with that being said…. it’s pretty obvious, this meal is a go-to in my house. We usually have all the ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 chicken breasts
- 10 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- olive oil or vegetable oil (enough to coat the pan)
- Worcestershire sauce
- garlic powder
- black pepper
- Mrs. Dash (or your favorite seasoning)
I believe you should always beat your meat. So we’ll start there! Tenderize your chicken.
If the chicken breasts are large, cut each in half. This makes them cook quicker, more manageable and turns them into more sensible portion sizes.
Put the tenderized chicken into a ziplock bag and add some Worcestershire (anyone else struggle with that pronunciation?). Seal bag and let marinate for atleast 30 minutes, the longer the better. If I prep correctly, I let it marinate overnight.
If your mushrooms are whole, it’s time to slice ’em. If they are pre-sliced, this meal just got simpler! Good planning on your part! BAH, I had to slice!
When chicken has marinated, coat a pan with oil. Heat it on med-high heat.
Season the chicken on one side with garlic powder, Mrs. Dash and black pepper. Don’t go overboard, it’s NOT breading.
Place chicken, seasoned side down, in hot oil. Let cook for a few minutes until browned.
While it cooks, season the top of the chicken with spices.
When the one side is golden brown, flip and cook the other side.
Remove chicken from pan.
Add the mushrooms.
Cook until they are tender and lightly browned.
Add chicken back to pan and turn heat down to low. Let the delicious duo simmer for a few minutes
They’re a beautiful couple aren’t they?
Place chicken on a plate and top with some mushrooms. Serve with your favorite sides and ENJOY!
Bon Appetit!
