There are some families that feel less like clients and more like old friends you happen to meet up with a few times a year while carrying a camera. The Glassman family is one of those families for me. I’ve been photographing them since their kiddos were newborns, which honestly feels impossible because now they’re five and seven, full of huge personalities, nonstop energy, and the kind of laughter that makes everyone around them start laughing too.
And truly… that is exactly what their sessions feel like.
Playful. Loud in the best way. Full of movement, games, running, giggling, and the kind of moments parents don’t always realize are magic until years later.
We met at Core Creek Park this spring for their family session, and even though it was a solid hour and a half before sunset, the light in this section of the park falls so beautifully this time of year. Everything glows in the softest way. The trees start turning that fresh spring green, the tall grass catches the sunlight, and the whole park feels calm and dreamy. Core Creek has become one of my favorite locations for spring and summer family portraits in Bucks County because it gives families room to breathe. Kids can run. Parents can relax a little. Nothing feels stiff or overly posed.
And honestly, that’s when the best photos happen.
The kids spent most of the session making me laugh, chasing each other around, climbing on Mom and Dad, and fully embracing the chaos that makes childhood so fun. Sessions like this are always such a good reminder that family photos do not need to be perfectly posed to be beautiful. In fact, some of my favorite images usually happen in the in-between moments.
The way your child grabs your hand.
The way everyone laughs after someone tells a ridiculous joke.
The quick cuddle before the kids run off again.
That’s the stuff that ends up meaning the most.
One of my favorite things about photographing families over the years is getting to watch their story unfold season after season. Tiny newborns become toddlers. Toddlers become big kids. Personalities grow bigger. Parents soften into the rhythm of family life. And somehow, every year, the photos become more meaningful.
To the family, thank you for continuing to trust me with your memories year after year. Watching your family grow has been such a joy.
If you’ve been thinking about scheduling spring or summer family portraits, now is one of the most beautiful times of year at Core Creek Park. The sunsets are dreamy, the colors are incredible, and the park gives kids plenty of space to simply be themselves. And I promise… you do not have to force your children to sit perfectly still for an hour to get beautiful family photos.
Sometimes the magic is in the movement.
