One thing I disliked about working in a corporate job was I always felt that there was not time for anything else. 5 days a week and sometimes 6 I belonged to someone else from 8 to 5 and being the workaholic that I am more like 7 to 6. Running my own business takes up even more hours BUT my schedule is so flexible which I love. In the past year I have been looking for new ways to volunteer in our community, I love to help others for no other reason than just helping. I wanted something that would get me out from behind the computer and making a difference in someone’s life. It feels good and I think I have a lot of talents to offer. I often ask God to “use me”, show me what I can do to help others. It’s funny how opportunity presents itself. I captured some adorable portraits of Brooke back in February and her Grandma, Phyllis and I got talking. Phyllis is one of the sweetest people that I bonded with instantly, it was like we were old friends and what is usually a hour session turned into about 3-4 because we couldn’t stop chatting. Phyllis told me all about Makefield Women’s Association, a local group dedicated to helping other’s in our community. I am so glad she did because from the first meeting I attended I could tell this was a special group of women. They support several different projects throughout the Yardley / Makefield area.
The mission statement from their site:
The Makefield Women’s Association (M.W.A.) consists of a diverse group of women dedicated to raising funds and providing services to individuals in need. We are actively involved in community service and have consistently supported programs that benefit both the local community and worthy humanitarian organizations.
Last night I was inducted into the group and I could not be more excited to be apart of this community. I look forward to supporting their efforts!
