Fonthill Castle | Doylestown, PA
One of the best kept secrets of Bucks County is Fonthill Castle. It is a place where one’s imagination can take off, peering back through this pristine window into the past. Nestled in Doylestown, PA, and built by Henry Chapman Mercer, the castle was used as his personal residence, and it now serves as a wonderful reflection of a simpler time. We love this location for Fall Portraits because when this stunning antique mansion is surrounded by the warm reds, oranges, and yellows of autumn – it is such a sight to behold!
Henry Chapman Mercer retains a bit of historical fame in Bucks County, as he is also known for building the closeby Moravian Tile Works. He did this to bring back handmade tile in response to machine-made, which speaks to his enduring character. He had a fondness for things made from hand and a unique eye for beauty, which shines through this historically-preserved castle and the elegant wooded property on which it resides.
Whether you are interested in kid’s portraits, baby portraits, family portraits, or engagement portraits, this distinctive location and its idyllic scenery will make for breathtaking photographs! When it comes to displaying the nostalgic exquisiteness of autumn, Fonthill Castle is truly impeccable.

This fall, in the spirit of Henry Chapman Mercer, let us capture your memories at Fonthill Castle, preserving them in heart-warming and timeless photographs, to enjoy for years to come.
This is a location that requires expressed approval from Fonthill Castle’s staff to ensure no other events are occurring. If you are sold on Fonthill Castle for your fall portraits, we would love to work with you and their office to find a preferred date and time.
Included in all of our fall sessions are a complimentary set of all final 4×6 images. One of our goals at Appletini Photography, which aligns with Henry Chapman Mercer’s fondness for simple times, is to preserve the family photo album. Living in a such a digital age, everything is easily accessible on our devices. We don’t want printed photographs to become a thing of the past, as there is simply nothing like the wonderful nostalgia of looking through boxes and albums of photos from prior years.
In addition to printed photographs, we also offer so many products that serve as heirlooms in your family – large-scale prints, art boards, boutique frames, and wall art. Our images are printed at such a high-quality with beautiful color that they are truly timeless, just like Mercer’s homemade tiles.
