Happy Mother’s day to all you gorgeous Mommas out there!  May you be celebrated like the superheroes you are!!!

4 years ago I spent my Mother’s days celebrating all the strong and wonderful Mothers in my life.  My Grandmothers, My Mother-in-law, My friends Mothers, who I love like my own…. and most importantly my Mother!

My Mother; the woman I have to thank for my own SuperMOMness!  I inherited every ounce from her.  I can’t possibly speak eloquently enough how special she is, so I won’t even attempt it.  I’ll just say this – I love that woman with all that I am.

Now that I am Mother myself, I look at the holiday in a completely different light. Sure, I will still celebrate the amazing women I mentioned above, but now I have another Mother to celebrate… ME!!  I have spent the entire weekend reflecting on myself.  Thinking about the Mother I’d like to be.  The Mother I DON’T want to be.  How to accept the fact that I will not be perfect.  I will mess up. Make the wrong decisions.  Yell when my Picasso draws on the walls.  I have to come to terms with that.  All us Mothers do.  We are human.

This weekend, during my reflection I thought of some things that will put me on the path to becoming the Mommy I dream to be.  The Mommy I want my girls to remember!

Here are some things I put on my ‘SuperMOM List’:

  1. I will love my girls unconditionally.
  2. I will apologize when I am wrong.
  3. I will explain.
  4. I will let them make mistakes.
  5. I will let them be angry.
  6. I will read to them.
  7. I will say no.
  8. I will say yes.
  9. I will let them play in the rain.
  10. I will play with them.
  11. I will take care of myself.
  12. I will teach acceptance and manners.
  13. I will laugh with them.
  14. I will be silly.
  15. I will be serious.
  16. I will let them wear their cape, tutu and Spiderman slippers shopping.
  17. I will tell them secrets.
  18. I will make blanket forts.
  19. I will take walks with them.
  20. I will learn from them.
  21. I will love their Daddy.
  22. I will surprise them.
  23. I will leave my cell phone at home.
  24. I will spend special one-on-one time with each.
  25. I will listen.
  26. I will encourage.
  27. I will let them stay up late.
  28. I will tell them stories.
  29. I will pay attention.
  30. I will love them unconditionally.

I bet your list looks different.  What are your list toppers??

This year for Mother’s day my sweet husband asked me if there was anything special I would like.  I thought about it.  Sure, I love jewelry as much as the next girl, but ya know what?  I feel like for Mother’s Day I NEVER need a present.  My girls are the only gift I’ll ever need.  Nothing will ever top them.  So no sweetheart, there is nothing special I would like… I ALREADY HAVE THEM!!!

Today, I am starting a new Mother’s Day tradition.  From this year on, I will be taking  a photograph with my girls.  I will cherish these images.  They will be my Mother’s Day gift.

Here is today’s photograph…. MOTHER’S DAY – photo 1
