Every year, as March 21st approaches, I find myself looking back at the incredible journey I’ve had capturing Kennedy’s bright spirit in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. For the past nine years, this sweet girl has stepped before my lens, bringing boundless joy, contagious laughter, and an energy that reminds us all to celebrate life’s beautiful moments. This year marks our tenth session, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor this milestone than by taking a trip down memory lane.
We’ve had some seriously fun themes over the years! From whimsical rainbows to donut heaven, from a joyful French fry feast to playful holiday setups, each session has been a reflection of Kennedy’s vibrant personality. She’s danced, giggled, and radiated pure happiness in every single session, making each one more special than the last. Her Mom always comes prepared with handfuls of outfits, ready to make memories.
One of my favorite memories is that year when she was surrounded by the donuts, eyes wide with excitement, ready to dive in. Or the time she twirled under a sky of balloons, laughing without a care in the world. Kennedy has a way of bringing magic to every frame, and looking back at all these images, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to capture her growing up in front of my lens.
Each World Down Syndrome Day, we use these images to spread awareness, celebrate inclusion, and, most importantly, share the love that Kennedy so effortlessly exudes. If you’ve followed along over the years, you know just how much this tradition means to me.
