On Friday I dressed up nice for work, wearing my favorite outfit and had my last day at my full time job. It is so bittersweet to leave a place you are so passionate about to persue your dreams that you are also passionate about. They had a wonderful lunch for me and an AMAZING cake and everyone said so many kind words and made me feel beyond loved. I held it together all day. I was not emotional until I pulled out of that parking lot. I already miss it a little, all of those tasks, all of those people depending on me all of those systems that I know. I was a little over come with emotions leaving what has been my life for the last 6 ½ years but also over joyed that I am making it happen. I will miss every person there but they are never too far away. Actually just 6 miles away 🙂
So here I am, my first full time day and I thought I would get started with a letter to myself. Because I know that in a few years and a million lessons later I will appreciate it.
Dear Me,
Here you go, you made it happen and now is your chance to make your dreams come alive. I am so proud of how far you’ve gotten and the places you will go. This moment feels like every positive quote I have ever read all wrapped into one. As long as I keep believing I can reach higher I will always climb.
This is not going to be easy, there are days when you’ll search monster.com because you want a comfortable salary position again – don’t do it. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, take risk or look like a fool when these things happen have grace, learn a lesson and move on. You have lots of support in your life, use it.
Don’t get caught up listening to other people’s opinions, follow you heart, it got you here. Surround yourself with people and business decisions that only lift you higher. Don’t forget the lessons you have learned from 10 years of business but also be willing to try things again. It’s your chance to set the rules and get it right.
Be true to yourself, take good care of yourself and others and the rest will fall into place. And last but not least – HAVE FUN!
