I was driving through my neighborhood earlier this summer when I heard “Lemonade 25 cents!!!”, “Lemonade 25 cents!!!” and I had to pull over and have some of the delicious lemonade. I loved having a drink stand was I was a kid, my stand usually sold Tang. 😉 Maybe it was the young business women in me or it just made me happy to quench people’s thirst but either way it’s always been a summertime favorite. After seeing those little girls selling Lemonade I wanted to do a lemonade portrait session. I had the perfect client contact me with the most adorable children!
So Heather and I set out on a mission and made our very own. We knew we could build our own lemonade stand. First order of business was a stand, crate or some kind of structure. We started out by Poppin’ Tags at the Good Will and found this perfect set of shelves.
First things first, I gave her a good cleaning.
I wanted to remove the back of the shelf’s that blocked so they would be see-through. I thought that may create some interesting composition and weird limbs if there where kids standing behind there and you could only see some of their legs.
Unfortunately by removing that back piece I lost the integrity of the structure and it became wobble town.
With some quick thinking and some leftover wood from another project I found a quick solution to fix my DIY Lemonade Stand.
Look at that form!
Ta-Da…. I think the strips in the front give it some really nice character.
Shortly after we finished the rain came rolling in so we moved this party to my kitchen floor and gave this stand a coat of paint.
While I was in the middle of this project and telling a friend about it she offered these adorable little chairs that we the perfect addition! As you can see they were also Madison approved!
I added a little piece of trim that Heather and I picked up and the fabric store for our DIY Lemonade Stand.
I had these chalk board from a maternity session that I did which made the perfect sign for our price.
If you notice in the beginning shot I had scrapbook paper and wooden dows to make bunting but at the last minute I found this free set of Lemonade Stand printable which worked out perfectly!
I added in some lemons and mason jars. Look how adorable! Don’t you love the dress that the Mom’s selected? So perfect for our Lemonade Portrait Session.
